Orthoceras (Ancient Fossilized Squid).
A superb single Orthoceras Specimen.
There are just two of these superb Cephalopod fossils in stock and they measure approximately between 7.5cm to 8cm in length. These are polished pieces with a nice shine which clearly shows off the fossil within. Commonly they are found in sedimentary rock formations like limestone and shale.
They are lovely to hold and are nice unusual decorative pieces.
Orthoceras was an ancient nautiloid cephalopod that lived about 370 million years ago. The name means straight horn, referring to the characteristic long, straight, conical shell. The preserved shell is all that remains of this ancestor of our modern-day squid.
It is said that Orthoceras activates our root chakra by grounding us down to earth with ancient energy. It is believed that this fossil opens us to opportunity, wisdom, and transformation.
A great addition to any fossil collection or to display on it's own.
